A Wooded Haven
McCord Park is a densely wooded 38-acre park covering the Cottonwood Creek floodplain. Every nature enthusiast knows that nature and trees go hand in hand, and this park is no different. Breathe in the crisp air while taking in the sights and sounds of the woods. If you’re the kind of person who wants to get your daily dose of nature, this park is for you.
Hiking Trails
For those looking to soak up their surroundings, the park has over a mile of hiking trails. Lace-up your shoes and hit the trail, as there is a lot to discover. Take some time to stroll along the creek and listen to the soothing sounds of the water. The park’s gentle slopes make it an easy hike for beginners while still having enough challenges for advanced hikers.
Disc Golf
What would a park be without a recreational activity that tests your talents? The 18-hole disc golf course designed by John Houck, a world-renowned disc golf course designer, provides a fun and engaging game for disc golfers of all skill levels. Tee off and see if you can score a hole-in-one!
Family Fun
Bringing the family? No problem. McCord Park offers plenty of picnic areas for you to enjoy some food and drinks while the kids run around the two playgrounds. Additionally, there is a fantastic splash pad – something all children will love to cool off in, especially in the hot Texas summers.
Fido’s Playground
Don’t forget your furry friends! McCord Park has a spacious dog park where dogs can run off-leash and socialize. Every dog owner can attest to the fact that a happy dog means happy times.
Fishing Dock
The fishing pond with its dock is a great spot to spend an afternoon with friends or family. And for all you nature lovers out there, the tree cover is sure to give you that wooded retreat you’ve been looking for. So why not pack a picnic, grab your fishing gear, and head on over to McCord Park? Trust me, you won’t be disappointed!
